Mata Katyayani
Navratri is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over evil and the Nine Nights of pooja symbolizes the nine nights of war between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. The various forms of Ma Durga are worshipped with great fervor and devotion on these 9 days. Navratri Pooja is very simple. You should observe fast whole day or have fruits or juice in day and eat pure vegetarian food in night.

On the sixth day, the goddess is worshipped as Katyayani. Seated on her vehicle lion, Katyayani has three eyes and four hands. The sixth Shakti is Mata Kaatyayani who is considered to be the daughter form of Durga. She is the epitome of love, but she can still get angry. Rishi Katyayan observed a penance to get Jaganmata as his daughter. She blessed him and took birth as his daughter on the bank of river Jamuna for getting Lord Krishna as a husband. Worshipping Mata Kaatyayani is the best way to get rid of the effects of sins committed in the previous lives.
